How We Work

The Marketplace Is a Mission Field

We don't ask professionals to leave their careers. We equip them to carry the gospel deeper into the places they already go.

Every Profession Is a Calling

The church has long understood that pastors and evangelists are missionaries. What we have been slower to see is that the engineer, the nurse, the teacher, and the civil servant carry the same mandate - and often walk through doors that no ordained minister ever could.

At APRM, our work begins with a conviction: the priesthood of every believer is not a Sunday concept. It is a weekday reality. Christian professionals are not laypeople waiting to become useful to God's mission. They are the mission, already placed inside companies, clinics, classrooms, and government offices across Africa.

Our work is to help them see it, and to equip them to live it with intentionality.

Our Three Pillars

Mobilisation

We identify and gather Christian professionals across Nigeria and the continent through Missions Summits, workshops, and networks. We create the moments where professionals encounter the scope of what God is doing in Africa - and find their place in it.

This is where it starts. Awareness before action.

Equipping

Awareness alone changes nothing. We train professionals to integrate their faith with their work in concrete terms - through short-term outreach attachments, mentorship, and practical mission preparation. A lawyer learns to serve justice systems in post-conflict communities. A nurse learns to staff a clinic in an unreached Northern region.

We don't ask professionals to become different people. We help them become more fully themselves.

Deployment

We connect willing professionals to mission agencies, community organisations, and African contexts that need exactly what they carry. Short-term placements of one week to one year. Collaborative outreaches across Nigeria. Six-month postings in African countries where a specialist skill is the most powerful form of witness possible.

The goal is not programmes. It is professionals, in place, making a difference.

From Summit to the Field

Our model moves in three stages - and a professional can enter at any point.

1

Encounter

A professional attends an APRM iMissions Summit or Professional Missions conference. They hear from those already serving. They meet others with the same skills and the same restlessness. They begin to ask what their profession could mean beyond a salary.

2

Prepare

For those called to go further, we offer preparation pathways: short-term training, mission agency introductions, and where relevant, language or cultural orientation for target communities. We work with seminaries, Christian universities, and mission bodies to formalise these pathways.

3

Go

Prepared professionals are deployed - whether for a week on an outreach in Kaduna, a summer at a partner clinic in Tunisia, or a year embedded in a mission agency in a West African city. They go as professionals, not tourists. They serve with their expertise, and they return changed.

Built on Partnerships

We do not work in isolation. APRM functions as a mobilisation and coordination body - we are most effective when we are linking people and organisations that are already doing good work.

We partner with:

  • Mission agencies that need professional volunteers and specialist staff
  • Christian universities and seminaries providing structured deployment pipelines for students and faculty
  • Churches whose members are professionals ready to be activated
  • Government and civil service bodies where professionals can serve under existing structures while fulfilling a mission mandate
  • African diaspora networks connecting Nigerians abroad to opportunities back home and across the continent

If your organisation needs professionals, or if your professionals need a place to serve - we want to talk.
